07 Basement - Masonry Wall

29.09.2012 : Saturday  -  04.10.2012 : Thursday

After the steel I-beams are put in placed and welded to each other, they still have to be placed at the right height-level in relation to the masonry wall underneath. Before fixing the steel and anchoring it into the wall underneath, the masonry wall needs to be fortified.
The pictures below show Muharrem Usta (wall-plaster professional and long-time helper of our family) and his team cleaning up the rubble inside the wall, re-laying the brickwork with the original bricks as well as old (but original sturdy) bricks that were brought from another destroyed building on 03.10.2012 Wednesday; and then finally finishing the rough plaster work.

On the right, our structural engineer and long-time collaborator Erol Yümlü is inspecting the work! (01.10.2012)

The old bricks have to be washed and prepared for use again. Here you see Ibrahim (Gürdağ), who has been with us since the beginning, helping out in basically everything!

Vahdet Usta and his crew (Temel Usta in red, and Aziz in stripes) inspect the finished wall, so that they can anchor the steel work into the wall at the right place and level.
