Metin Usta came with his crew to take off the wood window frames, so that the exterior cladding can be taken off.

Decision on wood species: The main structure, the timber-frame, will be built from Oak, and the exterior cladding will be made out of Pine.

Esat Demirel found well-dried oak ready for use. They have large stocks, and we are lucky of course.
16.10.2012 : Tuesday
Work starts on the front façade! Esat Demirel's team comes in!
Once we decided to re-do the wood construction of the front façade, the wood covering has to be taken off, revealing the timber-frame. (16.10.2012 - 18.10.2012)
Once the outside is peeled off, work starts on the inside. The window frames are taken out.
Also, when the plaster is peeled off, the horizontal wooden lats are revealed. This is a special plaster construction system called 'Baghdadi', which means that on top of the main wood framework, a layer of such horizontal wooden lats are nailed (generally 1.5cm thick), then a wire mesh is fixed, after which a thick layer of initial plaster is applied. Later, a fine finish layer is applied. Once the structure is finished, we will use these same methods to preserve original methodology in the building. When the construction is as far as that, I will describe this process better.
